Pest control in Las Vegas, NV

Pest control across the Las Vegas Valley

The Las Vegas Valley is a desert basin ringed by mountains, and where a home sits in that basin predicts its pests better than its ZIP code. The edges, where block walls meet open desert, belong to scorpions, pack rats and black widows. The irrigated core, with its lawns, old trees and sewers, belongs to ants, roaches and roof rats. We serve the entire valley from Henderson.

A basin with two kinds of neighborhood

The valley floor rises from the Las Vegas Wash in the east toward the Spring Mountains in the west and the McCullough Range in the south. The communities built out to those edges in recent decades, from Summerlin to Southern Highlands to Anthem, sit on graded desert with fresh block walls and rock mulch, the ideal shelter for bark scorpions. The older interior, built from the 1950s on, has mature trees, lawns, long-established sewers and homes with original vents and seals, which is rodent and roach country.

Water decides the rest

Nothing lives in this desert without water, so pests follow irrigation. Drip lines, lawns, pools, fountains and the Las Vegas Wash corridor concentrate ants, roaches and the spiders that eat them. A single leaking emitter can support an ant colony; a golf course or a lake supports a neighborhood's worth.

The valley calendar

Bark scorpions and Turkestan roaches run from the first warm nights in March through October, with a surge after the July and August monsoon storms flood sewers and valve boxes. Spider webs peak in September and October. Roof rats move into attics as nights cool in November. Ants are a summer problem tied to watering and a winter problem in heated kitchens.

Why every area gets its own page

Henderson's foothills, Summerlin's Red Rock edge, the Lake Las Vegas shoreline and Boulder City's 1930s homes are different problems. The area pages below cover the terrain, housing and pests that matter in each place. If you are somewhere in the valley that is not listed, we still come out; the valley-wide patterns above apply.

Pests that matter most in Las Vegas

  • Scorpions: Every edge of the valley where walls meet open desert.
  • Rodents: Roof rats in the mature interior; pack rats on the slopes.
  • Cockroaches: American roaches from the sewers; Turkestan roaches in boxes and walls valley-wide.
  • Ants: Wherever irrigation runs.
  • Spiders: Black widows in block walls from one end of the valley to the other.

Frequently asked questions

Do you serve the whole Las Vegas Valley?

Yes. We are based in Henderson and serve the entire Las Vegas Valley. The area pages cover the places we work in most; if your neighborhood is not listed, call or text with your cross streets.

Which part of the valley has the most scorpions?

The edges. Any community that backs onto open desert, a wash or recent construction sees the most bark scorpions, whichever direction it faces. The mature interior sees fewer scorpions and more rodents and roaches.

Does the monsoon change anything?

Yes. July and August storms flood sewers, valve boxes and wall voids, pushing roaches and scorpions to the surface and into garages and bathrooms, and the humidity afterward drives ant activity. Calls rise across the valley for a few weeks after each storm.

Is pest control different in the city of Las Vegas than in Henderson?

Not because of the city line. Construction age, landscaping and distance from open desert decide the pests, and all three vary inside each city as much as between them.
